Effects of a 12-week Pilates on body composition, daily living fitness, and indices of lifestyle disease in obese elderly women

ABSTRACT
The study was designed to examine the effects of a 12-week Pilates on body composition, daily living fitness, and surrogate indices lifestyle disease in obese elderly women. Twenty six women were randomly assigned one two groups, i.e., training group (EX; n=13) control (CON; n=13). participants EX completed program 60 min/session, three sessions/wk for 12 weeks, whereas CON asked maintain their normal life patterns during same intervention period. Main results present as follows: 1) Body mass index waist circumference decreased significantly EX. 2) Grip strength, sit stand, back stretch improved 3) Fasting plasma glucose HOMA-IR 4) Triglyceride LDL-C decreased, HDL-C increased 5) TC/HDL-C, TG/HDL-C, LDL-C/HDL-C 6) Systolic blood pressure mean arterial Thus, it concluded that would be beneficial improvement
