ABSTRACT
The aim of this review is to summarize the effects carbohydrate consumption on endurance sports. Due promotion physical activity by health authorities, participation in sports increasing. Regardless level, athletes look for ways optimize their performance through training and nutrition. In consequence, research field nutrition has focused those strategies that can improve performance. Fatigue during prolonged exercise associated with depletion muscle glycogen reduced blood glucose concentrations. Therefore, feeding shown it capacity performance, because helps maintain levels, as well as, increase oxidation rates preserve glycogen, finding better results when are consumed multiple-tranportable carbohydrates absortion (e.g., fructose glucose), since way possible absorption rates, gastric emptying fluid absorption, addition decrease gastrointestinal distress.
