PENYU DAN WARGA PULAU SIAU

The study of the perception residents Siau island regarding existence sea turtles was carried out from June to December 2018. survey method and direct observation were applied in data collection. collected then analyzed descriptively. results showed that 88 % are well acquainted with life followed by 80 knew turtles’ status as protected animals through government regulations international conventions. However, proportion involved violating quite worrying survival turtles. For it found 29% catching turtles, 20 selling turtle meat eggs, 82 consuming eggs. Thefefore, law enforcement conservation education absolutely neccesary for sustainability North Sulawesi Indonesia. Keywords: Sea turtle, Island, resident’s perception, enforment. Conservation AbstrakTelaah presepsi warga pulau terhadap keberadaan penyu laut telah dilaksanakan pada Juni-Desember Metode dan observasi langsung diaplikasikan dalam pengumpulan data, dianalisa secara deskripsif. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa mengenal dengan baik kehidupan (88%) statusnya sebagai satwa yang dilindungi melalui regulasi pemerintah konvensi Internasional (80%). Namun proporsi terlibat pelanggaran peraturan cukup mengkuartirkan akan keberlangsungan hidup penyu, yakni menangkap (29%), menjual daging telur (28%), mengkonsumsi (82%). Penegakkan hukum edukasi diperlukan demi kelestarian di Utara Indonesia umumnya.Kata kunci: Penyu laut, Pulau Siau, persepsi warga, penegakan hokum, pendidikan konservasi
