Outcome and Management of Blunt Renal Trauma

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Blunt renal trauma is a significant concern in cases, often resulting from motor vehicle accidents (MVA), falls, assaults, or sports-related injuries. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of blunt traumas and evaluate outcome patients presenting with injuries Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Methods: observational was conducted Department Casualty & Urology, Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh, February 2016 July 2016. We included 50 admitted Urology our institution clinical radiological diagnoses trauma. Results: The most affected age group 31–40 years (32%), followed by 41–50 (22%). Males were more commonly across all injury grades. MVA leading cause (50%), assault (24%) sports (14%). Macroscopic hematuria (68%) common than microscopic hematuria, predominantly seen Grade III Management varied severity: I II mostly treated conservatively, while higher grades required renorrhaphy, partial nephrectomy, emergency nephrectomy. Complications occurred 40% patients, sepsis (10 cases) hemorrhage (6 being frequent. One patient V died. Follow-up compliance 62%, 38% not returning for evaluation. Conclusion: affects middle-aged males, primary cause. While low-grade can be managed severe necessitate surgical intervention. highlights importance early intervention, proper follow-up, monitoring complications improve outcomes.
