ABSTRACT
Purpose: To determine the effectiveness of temporary keratoprosthesis in facilitating successful combined penetrating Keratoplasty and vitreoretinal surgery. Study Design: Retrospective interventional case series. Place Duration Surgery: Department Ophthalmology, Peshawar Medical College, from January 2020 December 2023. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted which included 15 patients who underwent keratoprosthesis-assisted Data for pre postoperative visual acuity, IOP, retinal attachment graft status were obtained hospital records. Surgical success determined by presence a clear corneal graft, stable attachment, normal intraocular pressure, maintained or improved acuity. analyzed using SPPS version 24. An independent test employed to compare continuous variables between with unsuccessful surgical outcomes. Results: total cases mean age 39.27 ± 15.88 years this study. Visual acuity 33.3% cases, worsened 13.3%, remained 53.3%. Postoperative opacity occurred 73.3% patients, while 26.7% retained graft. Functional vision achieved approximately 40% only 13.3% considered success. Conclusion: Complete attained minority functional less than half patients. Graft failure predominant complication, laceration posterior segment pathology most frequent indication.
