ABSTRACT
Introduction: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Cigarette smoke noxious agent result in oxidative stress activate release inflammatory mediators such as Interleukin-8 (IL-8). Quercetin a flavonoid compound containing anti-inflammatory effects which can be used an adjuvant therapy stable COPD.
Objective: To analyze effect quercetin on serum IL-8 levels, % VEP1, CAT score COPD patients.
Methods: Experimental clinical trial with pre-test pasca-test design was performed 30 patients Dr. Moewardi Surakarta between December 2017 January 2018. The samples taken by using purposive sampling were divided into two groups treatment received standard 500mg/day for 28 days control only therapy. decrease inflammation measured examination, improvement obstruction %FEV1 score.
Results: level significantly lower group than (p=0,001). percentage FEV1 insignificant different (p=0,236). However compared to that (p=0,001)
 Conclusions: when given combination for
 patients. (J Respir Indo 2019; 39(2))
