ABSTRACT
Preoperative anemia is a common finding among geriatric patients with trochanteric fractures. We assessed the dynamics of hemoglobin and factors that influence it. A total 780 fractures were selected. Distribution by gender showed slightly higher proportion female (64.1%). The preoperative interval ranged from few hours to 19 days. Hospital admission period varied 1 49 Hemoglobin 4.80 17.40 g/dl; 43.1% had individual values below baseline. Individually, value decrease 9.33 g/dL an increase 11.97 g/dL, but study group recorded average 0.96 1.75 g/dL. downward trend directly correlated period. Decrease in was percentage blood lymphocytes, PLT/WBC ratio, prothrombin activity APTT ratio. low level variation associated shorter interval, reduced time, ] 100, INR 1.50 30.
