Long Term Efficacy of the Treatment with Olanzapine Pamoate, Risperidone and Aripiprazole Monohydrate

ABSTRACT
The use of long-acting injectable antipsychotics (LAIs) is considered to be an important treatment option, especially in early stages schizophrenia. aim this study was evaluate the efficacy, safety and sustained remission schizophrenia patients treated with three available LAIs substances: olanzapine pamoate, risperidone microspheres aripiprazole monohydrate. A retrospective chart review evaluating efficacy compared oral antispychotics during a five years period performed. Of 102 included study, 52 (50.9%) continued LAIs: pamoate (n = 20, 38.4%), microsphere 22, 42.3%), monohydrate 10, 19.3%). In group number relapses smaller than (12 vs. 23, P [ 0.05) as well admissions (15 30, 0.05). conclusion, relapse strongly related nonadherence. prescription overall underutilized despite their efficacy. Future randomized studies are needed long term treatment.
