ABSTRACT
Objective To analyze the clinical and pathological features of follicular variant papillary thyroid carcinoma (FVPTC).Methods Clinical data 131 FVPTC patients diagnosed treated between January 2006 June 2012 were retrospectively analyzed. Results Of patients, the median age at diagnosis was 45 years 74.0% female.Pathologically 29% (38 patients) encapsulated, and 71% (93 nonencapsulated.Compared with classical (CPTC),FVPTC more likely to have lower ultrasound diagnostic accuracy rate, frozen section rate, tumor muhicentricity, tumor bilaterality, lymph node metastasis, lateral lymph metastasis rate,N staging,TNM stage,ATA risk higher M staging concomitant chronic thyroiditis rate (all P < 0.05).Moreover,there significant differences nonencapsulated encapsulated in tumor size,TSH level, ultrasound rate, extrathyroid invasion,T staging, lymph metastasis,N staging,ATA recurrence 0.05).Conclusions Compared CPTC,FVPTC different biological features. It's necessary for management strategies patients.
