Effect of enteral nutrition via a naso-gastric(intestinal) tube vs a percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy/jejunostomy tube in patients after liver transplantation: a Meta analysis

Objective To systematically review the effect of enteral nutrition via a naso-gastric (intestinal) tube (NG) vs percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy/jejunostomy (PEG/PEJ) after liver transplantation, and provide support for selection proper nutrition.

Methods Pub Med, web science, Cochrane Library (Jan, 2018), CNKI, VIP Wanfang Date were search until Jan, 2018. Two authors independently assessed trials inclusion extracted data. Discrepancies resolved in consultation with third reviewer, about research retrospective study effects NG PEG/PEJ transplantation was performed supplemented. Publication bias evaluated, Meta-analyses conducted RevMan5.3.

Results 4 studies collected, involving 430 patients. The Meta-analysis showed that starting time earlier than (MD=-1.77, 95%CI -1.83 to -1.70, P<0.05). average hospitalization shorter (MD=-2.88, -5.19 -0.56, diarrhea incidence higher (OR=1.66, 1.04 2.65, P<0.05), gastroesophageal reflux lower (OR=0.29, 0.12 0.66, gastric retention rate (OR=0.26, 0.14 0.41, Dislocation (OR=0.06, 0.01 0.46, pneumonia (OR=0.59, 0.36 0.99, There no significant differences between on indwelling time, occlusion, abdominal infection, acute renal insufficiency, rejection reaction.

Conclusion PEG/PEJ had nutrition, placement related complications such as esophagus reflux, retention, dislocation pneumonia, but higher. is first choice patients serious basic diseases, weak digestive function or system disorders can be chosen.
