ABSTRACT
Objective To explore the efficacy of ketogenic diet(KD) in treatment status epilepticus(SE) and whether KD could protect brain, propose a new thought on SE patients' reasonably individualized treatment, brain protection prognosis improvement. Methods From Sep 2013 to Jan 2015, all patients diagnosed as were advised apply treatment; who refused included control group, while accepted group.Based principles, group applied traditional anti-convulsive therapy, therapy combined with treatment. Before after epilepsy control, serum was collected test neuron specific enolase(NSE) S100β levels, duration recorded. Results The total 10 patients; 3 had good obtained seizure-free clinical seizures declined significantly 6 patients. The group's overall response rate 9/10, which higher than that group(5/8)(P<0.01). The gain shorter group[(5.2±2.9) d vs.(9.8±1.5) d, P<0.01]. After NSE both groups decreased those before treatment(P<0.001 or P<0.05). lower statistically significant difference(P<0.05). Conclusion Frequent epileptic would impair patient's brain.Controlling actively severity injury.KD effectively seizure neuroprotective effects.
