Liver transplantation for the treatment of end-stage hepatic alveolar echinococcosis

ABSTRACT
Objectiye To investigate the value of liver transplantation for treatment end-stage hepatic alveolar echinococcosis(HAE).Methods The clinical data 8 patients with HAE who received at First Affiliated Hospital Xinjiang Medical University from December 2000 to August 2010 were retrospectively analyzed.The operation time,anhepatic phase,infusion suspension red blood cells and postoperative complications observed.Results median phase infusion 635 minutes(range,490-760 minutes),66 minutes(range,44-240 minutes)and 20 U(range,4-40 U).Liver was successfully carried out on 7 except 1 patient emergent died severe encephalopathy,renal failure coagulation disorder day 1.The follow-up time 6 months(range,3-29 months).One septicopyemia in month 3,1 incurable infection bile duct 5,and acute rejection 6.One complicated stricture anastomosis,and cured by choledochojejunostomy.The size metastatic lesion left lung reduced.One underwent autotransplantation had no signs residual disease good function.Conclusion End-stage is an indication transplantation.A minimum dose immunosuppressive agent systemic administration anti-HAE drugs are necessary prevent recurrence ensure a long-term survival.Liver optimal method HAE,because needed after operation.
