ABSTRACT
The suitability and potential of shape selected nanocrystals for in situ spectro-electrochemical particular spectro-electrocatalytic studies on structurally well defined electrodes under enforced controlled electrolyte mass transport will be demonstrated, using Pt prepared by colloidal synthesis procedures a flow cell set-up allowing simultaneous measurements the Faradaic current, FTIR spectroscopy adsorbed reaction intermediates side products an attenuated total reflection configuration (ATR-FTIRS) differential electrochemical spectrometry (DEMS) volatile products. Batches shape-selected with different shapes hence surface structures were characterized transmission electron microscopy (TEM) methods. is illustrated CO ad oxidation nanocrystal surfaces, where we could separate contributions from two processes occurring simultaneously, oxidative removal re-adsorption (bi)sulfate anions, reveal distinct structure sensitivity these also structural implications adlayer.
