ABSTRACT
Approximately 185,000 amputations occur in the United States each year, and number of is much higher developing world. Though a generic prosthetic can restore some functionality, they are impersonal relatively poor fit may create an uncomfortable feeling. The purpose this study to compare gap volume custom casts created through photogrammetry FDM rapid-prototyping ipsilateral versus mirrored contralateral extremities. Based on results study, 3D-Scanning/CAD Modeling/3D-printing process offers significant improvement over current cast/ production method for rate production, cost, comfort, subject satisfaction, material quality, could be incorporated small clinic settings usage with minimal resource investment.
