ABSTRACT
To evaluate the feasibility of multi-slice spiral CT scan to localize upper airway stricture in patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) during drug-induced sleeping. One hundred and fourteen diagnosed as OSAS by polysomnography were included study. Multi-slice covering was performed at end inspiration clear images obtained waking. After injecting 5 mg midazolam intravenously slowly 109 patients, sleeping. Cross-section area minimal diameter measured parameters compared under those two states. Upper displayed intuitionisticly using post-processing techniques. One nine finished examination a success rate 100 %. Airway obstruction retropalatal level observed 62 among whom 26 associated retroglossal level, 27 narrower sleeping that waking, 9 no significant change after Narrower waking 40 20 10 complete sleeping, 7 both levels before Minimal mean cross-section (72.60 +/-45.15)mm(2) (8.26 +/-18.16)mm(2) sleeping; (133.21 +/-120.36)mm(2)in (16.73 +/-30.21)mm(2) (P <0.01). (6.91 +/-2.23) mm (1.18 +/-2.14) (8.68 +/-4.32) (1.68 +/-2.22) <0.01).Multi-slice techniques can display shape assess its range accurately.
