ABSTRACT
Abstract Compact symmetric objects (CSOs) are compact (<1 kpc), jetted active galactic nuclei (AGN), whose jet axes not aligned close to the line of sight, and observed emission is predominantly relativistically boosted toward us. Two classes CSOs have previously been identified: approximately one-fifth edge dimmed rest brightened. We designate these as CSO 1s 2s, respectively. This paper focuses almost exclusively on 2s. Using complete samples 2s we present three independent lines evidence, based their relative numbers, redshift distributions, size which show conclusively that vast majority (>99%) do evolve into larger-scale radio sources. These belong a distinct population AGN, should be characterized “short-lived,” opposed “young,” compared larger AGN. there sharp upper cutoff in 2 distribution at ≈500 pc. The differences between most other AGN provides crucial new time domain window formation evolution relativistic jets supermassive black holes drive them.
