ABSTRACT
The Caribbean area of Colombia has been severely affected by a Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) outbreak since 2014.The study was carried out on 100 patients during fever from August to September 2014 in two small rural villages the northern Colombia. molecular assays performed reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) acute patient sera were collected within one five days appearance symptoms. Sequence analyses based phylogenetic genes NS1 and E2. For serological assays, 49 (49%) at ≥ 6 disease onset tested with NovaLisa IgG/IgM µ-capture enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).The main signs or symptoms associated infection arthralgia lower limbs (96%), (91%), upper (85%), rash (64%), headache (57%). Ninety-four percent (46/49) positive for either IgM IgG; remaining three (6%) seronegative. Viral loads detected 25 patients. Based analysis E2, characterization Colombian CHIKV indicated that it strain closely related British Virgin Islands Asian genotype. This shows clinical description shown were: arthralgia, fever, rash. sequences genotype strain.
