ABSTRACT
Background and Aim: Multimodal analgesia is currently used for perioperative pain management after Radical cystectomy (RC). This study aimed to compare quadratus lumborum block (QLB) thoracic epidural (TEA) in patients subjected RC.
Methods: prospective randomized controlled included 34 with bladder cancer RC under general anesthesia, divided into two groups. The Quadratus Group (n=17) underwent bilateral ultrasound-guided continuous QLB, the Epidural TEA. primary outcome was intensity measured by VAS score, secondary outcomes were total morphine consumption during first 48 hours surgery, postoperative nausea patient satisfaction.
Results: There no differences between groups scores starting immediately surgery up hours. Reduction of score QLB delayed compared that had a comparable number requesting rescue (p = 0.271) 0.976) remaining patients. significantly lower than 0.020). significant difference satisfaction (p=0.612). Few mild complications detected studied groups.
Conclusion: TEA are safe effective managing radical similar analgesic profiles. more reducing vomiting.
