ABSTRACT
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a large family of small, non-coding RNAs that play pivotal role in tumorigenesis. miR‑34a, which is member the miR-34 family, downstream target p53. Increasing evidence shows miR-34a dysregulation may contribute to tumor development and progression numerous cancers, including esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). However, mechanism regulation ESCC cells need be further elucidated because complex regulative network miRNAs. The expression samples has been confirmed using quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. effects on migration invasion were examined lines wound healing Transwell assays, respectively. matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2 -9 fibronectin type III domain containing 3B (FNDC3B) levels detected by luciferase reporter assays western blot analysis. Quantitative reaction revealed miR‑34a significantly downregulated tissues compared adjacent normal tissues. overexpression was suppressed simultaneously inhibited MMP-2, MMP-9 FNDC3B targeting coding 3'-untranslated regions, findings indicated microRNA‑34a suppresses MMP-9, ESCC.
