ABSTRACT
Resveratrol (3,5,4'-trihydroxy-trans-stilbene) is a natural compound found in large quantities, most notably grapes and red wine, which has been shown to have anti-inflammatory, chemopreventive anti-angiogenic effects. We examined whether resveratrol any effect on growth gene expression the human ovarian cancer PA-1 cells. show that inhibits cell induces apoptosis also investigated of changes global during resveratrol-induced inhibition cells using cDNA microarray with 7,448 sequence-verified clones. Out genes screened, 118 were founded be affected their levels by more than 2-fold after 24-h treatment 50 µM resveratrol. at final concentration for 6, 12, 24 48 h patterns analyzed microarray. Clustering modulated three above times points divided into 2 groups. Within these groups, there specific subgroups whose expressions substantially changed specified time points. One highly up-regulated this study was NAD(P)H quinone oxidoreductase 1(NQO-1), recently involved p53 regulation. Although precise roles fluctuate remain elucidated, we hope new view following exposure, as offered study, provides clues mechanism action.
