ABSTRACT
Aquaporin 4 (AQP4) is a widely distributed membrane protein, which found in glial cells, ependymocytes and capillary endothelial cells the brain, particularly choroid plexus. AQP4 key regulator of water metabolism, changes its expression following brain injury are associated with pathological damaged side brain; however, effects on injury‑induced contralateral non‑damaged remain to be fully elucidated. In present study, male Sprague‑Dawley rats were subjected traumatic (TBI) content, characteristics sides examined. vasogenic edema appeared first, followed by cellular edema. The aggravated resulted two periods peak severity. Pathological occurred later than those side; edema, was alleviated earlier downregulated during upregulated Taken together, these results suggested that downregulation result upregulation may have induced
