ABSTRACT
Due to the accumulating evidence that has demonstrated vital role of cancer stem cells (CSCs) in tumor initiation, progression and metastasis, mechanisms maintain stemness CSCs have attracted increasing attention. Metastasis‑associated lung adenocarcinoma transcript‑1 (MALAT‑1), a long non‑coding RNA, which been revealed be associated with malignant behavior tumors, performs critical maintaining several CSCs. In present study, it was hypothesized MALAT‑1 promotes cell‑like phenotypes breast cells. The data expression higher CSC subpopulation compared overall MCF7 cell group knockdown decreased proportion self‑renewal assay also sphere formation rate vitro. addition, is able regulate proliferation, colony formation, migration invasion underlying may involve regulation self‑renewal‑associated factors, including sex‑determining region Y‑box 2 (Sox‑2). Taken together, study affects through Sox‑2.
