ABSTRACT
OpenBiodiv is a biodiversity knowledge graph containing synthetic linked open dataset, OpenBiodiv-LOD, which combines extracted from academic literature with the taxonomic backbone used by Global Biodiversity Information Facility. The data modelled according to OpenBiodiv-O ontology integrating semantic resource types recognised and publishing ontologies types, introduced capture semantics of resources not before. We introduce new release OpenBiodiv-LOD attained through information extraction modelling additional entities. It was achieved further developments OpenBiodiv-O, storage infrastructure workflow accompanying R software packages for transformation into Resource Description Framework (RDF). We discuss how utilise LOD in informatics give examples providing solutions several competency questions. investigate performance issues that arise due large amount inferred statements conclude OWL-full inference impractical project unnecessary should be avoided.
