Species review of the genus Gnypeta Thomson from Canada, Alaska and Greenland (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae, Aleocharinae): systematics, bionomics and distribution

ABSTRACT
A review of the rove beetle species genus Gnypeta Thomson from Canada, Alaska and Greenland is presented. Eighteen are reported Canada which 7 described as new to science, 3 Palaearctic region in North America for first time: G. brincki Palm, carbonaria (Mannerheim), sellmani Brundin; 5 species, atrolucens Casey, crebrepunctata (Casey), groenlandica Lohse, nigrella (LeConte), uteana represent distribution records one, caerulea (C.R. Sahlberg), represents province territory records. New are: ashei Klimaszewski, sp. nov.; dentata lohsei Klimaszewski minuta & Webster, nov., canadensis saccharina nov. The lectotypes here designated following syntype series: baltifera bockiana brevicollis boulderensis brunnescens helenae manitobae oblata punctatula wickhami Casey. synonyms established (first name being valid): Casey (= = Casey); (=G. Casey), laticollis Casey). classified into five groups reflecting their presumed relationships.
