Taxonomic review of the Chondrostoma (Teleostei, Leuciscidae) species from inland waters of Turkey: an integrative approach

ABSTRACT
The genus Chondrostoma (Leuciscidae: Leuciscinae), composed of small to medium-sized fish with a scraper feeding characteristic, is distributed in the West and Middle East, Caucasus, Europe Northern Mediterranean drainages. This spreads across Anatolia Thrace, exception Göksu Eşen rivers Turkey’s basin. It also difficult understand systematics , which complicated morphologically. Therefore, this study, an identification key was made by evaluating external morphology, osteology (some jaw bones 5 th ceratobrachial) molecular features together. A total 13 valid species have been so far recorded from Turkish inland waters, among are C. beysehirense ceyhanensis colchicum cyri holmwoodii kinzelbachi meandrense nasus regium smyrnae toros turnai vardarense. Our data showed that angorense (Kızılırmak Sakarya rivers) synonym (Çoruh Yeşilırmak rivers). In addition, morphologically similar . we explored systematic position vardarense (from Meriç River) Simav study.
