ABSTRACT
Background: Co-administration of two or more antimicrobials with anti-anaerobic activity is not recommended except in certain circumstances. We therefore conducted an intervention to reduce unnecessary double anaerobic coverage (DAC) prescription. Materials and Methods:The consisted education using institutional intranet prospective audits feedback provided through collaboration between a pharmacist infectious diseases physician Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, tertiary hospital Seongnam, Republic Korea, 2013.The study period was 1 year which contained 6 months pre-intervention period. To estimate the overall effect intervention, we compared monthly number patients receiving DAC for than 3 days proportion among all DAC. Results:The average after screening decreased by 73.9% from 26.8 7.0.Wilcoxon rank sum test revealed there significant statistical difference (P = 0.005).The identified as necessary also 67.8% 42.3% 13.6% < 0.001). Conclusion:The multidisciplinary antimicrobial stewardship program combined methods reduced prescription successfully.
