ABSTRACT
Prosthetic biomaterials can affect the composition of subgingival microbiota and consequently production proinflammatory cytokines, causing damage to periodontium. A total 40 patients were divided into two groups: 20 with monolithic zirconia (MZ) prostheses porcelain fused metal (PFM) nickel-chromium (Ni-Cr) alloy prostheses. Subgingival plaque gingival crevicular fluid samples taken. The Checkerboard technique for DNA-DNA hybridization enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay performed. Teeth MZ presented a lower percentage bleeding on probing tooth mobility compared teeth PFM Ni-Cr alloy. Prosthodontic harbored higher levels 18 bacterial species than non-prosthodontic teeth. There was prevalence S. gordonii V. parvula in MZ. an increase IL-1β, TNF-α CX3CL1 is candidate biomaterial fewer negative effects periodontium, allowing longer longevity mouth.
