<b>Pollen spectrum of the honey of uruçu bee (<i>Melipona scutellaris</i> Latreille, 1811) (Hymenoptera: Apidae) in the North Coast of Bahia State

ABSTRACT
Regional-level studies of floral resources used by social bees for honey production can contribute to the improvement management strategies bee pastures and colonies, identifying most visited flowers thus characterizing various geographical origins honey. The objective this study was investigate, through pollen analysis, types nectar sources uruçu (Melipona scutellaris L.) in North Coast Bahia. Honey samples were taken monthly from five colonies an apiary August 2010 July 2011. Pollen analysis performed using acetolysis method, followed qualitative quantitative grains. Fifty belonging 40 genera 17 families identified. results indicate predominance Fabaceae Myrtaceae, which suggests that preferred foraging trees shrubs. These plants should be included regional reforestation projects order improve species production.
