ABSTRACT
The scarcity of drinking water is currently a critical issue in many parts the world. Providing clean/urgent longer limited to natural sources. Wastewater treatment has become an urgent necessity countries, particularly Middle East and North African regions characterized by desert climate. Hence, development effective methods for wastewater vital overcome this shortage. present study attempts explore use local clay from United Arab Emirates (UAE) prepare porous ceramic membranes (flat disk shape) purpose removing toxic heavy metals contaminated water. Two types were prepared powder metallurgy method; first type was uniaxial compression with particle size ≤ 250 μm, followed sintering. second membrane composed activated carbon/clay mixture at different ratios (0.5%, 3% w/w). carbon used as agent form porosity plain membrane. found affect final characteristics flat sintered 1000°C. w/w induce 19% disc. disc also X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, fluorescence. tested their efficiency permeation. results proved that UAE could be considered promising material fabrication prospective removal metals.
