ABSTRACT
Abstract Rove beetle species and their pitfall trap abundance were studied in red spruce ( Picea rubens Sarg.; Pinaceae) stands the Acadia Research Forest, New Brunswick, Canada, 1999. The study yielded over 5000 specimens representing 134 11 subfamilies of Staphylinidae. Of these, 58 represent new distribution records for Brunswick (NPR), including 15 Canada (NCR), 6 species, 4 synonyms, as follows: Omaliinae, 3 species; Proteininae, Proteinus pseudothomasi Klimaszewski sp. nov. (NCR, NPR) P. acadiensis NPR); Tachyporinae, Trichophyinae, 1 Aleocharinae, 33 Atheta capsularis , A. brunswickensis pseudocrenuliventris Oxypoda lacustris Casey (NPR) [= O. bradorensis Lohse syn. egestosa lassula optiva ], Pella gesneri ; Oxytelinae, Paederinae, Staphylininae, 10 species. or known are presented here with a short diagnosis, habitus images, genital illustrations to help identification. images most first time these
