ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether surface treatments affect the translucency laminate veneers with different shades and thicknesses.MATERIALS AND METHODS.A total 224 disc-shaped ceramic were prepared from A1, A3, HT (High Translucent) HO Opaque) IPS e.max Press (Ivoclar Vivadent) 0.5 mm 1.0 thicknesses. The ceramics divided into four groups for treatments.Group C: no treatments; Group HF: etched hydrofluoric acid; SB: sandblasted 50-μm Al 2 O 3 ; L; irradiated an Er;YAG laser.A translucent shade resin cement (Rely X Veneer, 3M ESPE) chosen cementation. The color values measured a colorimeter parameter (TP) calculated.A three-way ANOVA interactions TP performed Bonferroni tests used when appropriate (α=0.05).RESULTS.There significant between treatments, thicknesses (P=.001).For 0.5-mm-thick specimens there differences after SB L treatments. There difference HF C any or (P>.05).For 1-mm-thick ceramics, only (P=.01).There also except not (P=.768).CONCLUSION.The caused become more opaque; however, treatment did values. When thinner, both laser had greater effect on values.
