ABSTRACT
The Argentine coastal zone, with its highly productive waters, allows the existence of important seabird and marine mammal breeding assemblages, fish crustacean spawning nursery areas, extensive macroalgae mollusk beds.Knowledge factors determining dynamics waters is urgently needed to help understand their influence on biological processes biodiversity.Available information in region currently scarce due low number oceanographic cruises modeling studies. We evaluate capacity high-resolution satellite for identification analysis such as fronts, upwellings, small scale eddies.Using two case studies, we show how analyses temporal sequences LANDSAT-TM ETM+ images allow refining formulation 05/09/2005 13:06 hypothesis. In first case, relate colony distribution small-scale upwelling second, analyze a frontal zone recruitment commercially scallop species.
