ABSTRACT
Seasonal variation affects understory and canopy tree plants in different ways. Palicourea racemosa is an shrub from the Rubiaceae family subject to seasonal oscillations of environment, which can affect plant ecophysiological responses. This species widely distributed humid forests southern Mexico southeastern Brazil has broad economic ecological importance for regions occurrence, being used food, ornamental traditional medicine purposes. It fundamental know responses this throughout dry rainy periods, understand dynamics tropical forests. research aimed at evaluating effects seasonality on aspects P. Mata do Pau-Ferro State Park, municipality Areia, ParaÃba, Brazil. Over ten months, upper structure indices were measured individuals, climatic data collected their gas exchange chlorophyll evaluated. Results showed that environmental variables correlated with ones, a strong association soil moisture, rainfall leaf area index plants, indicating water availability irradiance exchanges photosynthetic pigment content. Except intrinsic use efficiency instantaneous carboxylation efficiency, all significant differences over showing influence racemosa.
