ABSTRACT
The current study aimed to analyze the histochemical and morphological characteristics of levator ani muscle in rats. For this, we used 10 Wistar rats (5 males 5 females), weighing between 200 765g.The animals were dissected fresh formalin for anatomical observation.Muscle fragments collected frozen n-Hexane previously cooled liquid nitrogen. Then, muscles transferred a microtome cryostat (HM 505 E Microm), being fixed metal mounts with adhesive Tissue Freezing Medium.Histological sections 6.0µm removed subjected HE staining.Other NADH-TR SDH reactions. After fixed, architecture female pelvic floor revealed presence two muscles: iliocaudalis pubocaudalis. The inspection male revealed, pronouncedly, muscle: ischiocavernosus bulbocavernous. We therefore observed marked difference same species, which does not occur humans. The staining muscular fibers preserved morphology, contours ranging from polygonal rounded, acidophilic cytoplasm, one or more peripheral nuclei rounded shape dense chromatin aspect. The organized fascicles arranged by connective tissue, perimysium, each fiber surrounded endomysium, composed loose tissue. The NADH-TH SDH, whose reactions show activity oxidative glycolytic fibers, allowed identification types fiber. The fast-twitch shows weaker reactivity, whereas slow-twitch has small diameter intense especially subsarcolemmal, presenting highly metabolism. It was found that are primarily while humans they predominantly formed fibers. Thus, models these various kinds protocols training should be cautiously.
