ABSTRACT
Thermal treatments have the effect of reducing hygroscopicity and improving resistance to microbiological attack wood by degradation its chemical constituents. During treatments, mass is reduced, a factor that can affect quality materials according their use. The objective was verify thermal treatment variables on thermogravimetric properties composition Eucalyptus grandis. were carried out in vacuum oven with three atmosphere conditions - vacuum; N2; vacuum+N2 at temperatures 140, 180 220 °C for 6 hours. It observed loss during differed only used. extractive content, total lignin holocellulose presented significant changes 220°C all atmospheres. In analysis, greatest value residual found used nitrogen °C, thus demonstrating this more invasive, leading conclusion application help reduce constituents eucalypt wood. Wood, which lead production thermally treated without great losses mechanical properties.
