ABSTRACT
Background: Cervical cancer remains the major public problem worldwide and most common gynaecological malignancy in developing world, particularly sub-Saharan Africa.Aim: To determine prevalence of abnormal cervical cytology amongst women with without human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) examine association between HIV histological grading.Setting: The study was conducted Limpopo province, which is northernmost province South Africa. has five district municipalities one tertiary, regional thirty four hospitals.Methods: We retrospectively reviewed cases (LP) Africa, using data collected routinely by National Health Laboratory Services (NHLS). on smears submitted for 2013 2015 were extracted from Central Data Warehouse (CDW) database.Results: A total 84 466 screened smears. Their mean age 39.8 ± 13.6 years, range 15 to 113 years; 77.2% group 30 years older 19.6% had an result. Overall, 46.4% infected. significantly higher proportion HIV-positive than HIV-negative (31.8% vs. 9.2%).Conclusion: relatively high, risk appears be greater all groups.
