Evaluation of changes in the attitudes and behaviors of relatives of lung cancer patients toward cancer prevention and screening

ABSTRACT
Cancer diagnosis affects all the relatives living with patient; however, whether behavior of family members changes or not is unknown. To end this we evaluated lung cancer patients.Forty-one questions were used to collect data from patients who had been them for at least one year, evaluate in their attitudes and behaviors related prevention.The study included 246 patients' relatives, 172 (69.9%) women 74 (30.1%) men. The median age was 46 years (range: 20-83 years). Patients together an average 28 1-68 years), 88 (35.7%) children. We found toward prevention screening 92 (37.4%) relatives. Fifty-two (21.1%) changed smoking habits, 34 (13.8%) altered eating 25 (10.2%) exercise 13 (5.3%) visited a doctor due suspicion having cancer, 12 (4.9%) lifestyles, seven (2.8%) underwent tests, three (1.2%) started using alternative medicines, vitamins prevention.Important occur after are diagnosed cancer. Being aware how react member's may provide healthcare professionals more incentive address relatives' special needs.
