ABSTRACT
<b>Introduction:</b> Nonadherence to cardiovascular medicines is a major concern. It increases the morbidity and mortality of patients. The work was conducted evaluate adherence in patients rural India. <br><b>Methods:</b> study Department Medicine involving with essential hypertension (HTN), congestive cardiac failure (CCF), ischemic heart disease (IHD) over 12 months period. Patients were prescribed at initial visit assessed subsequent visit. Four items Morisky's Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-4) used for assessing medication adherence. considered adherent if they answered negatively all four questions. <br><b>Results:</b> Overall 20.83%, 28.37% 32% HTN, CCF, IHD patients, respectively. highest HTN. Among reasons nonadherence by MMAS-4, carelessness most common forgetfulness least cause three groups <br><b>Conclusion:</b> India adhere poorly medicines. should be as public health problem. Strategies detecting level medicines, its barriers, interventions developed policy-makers reduce due disorders.
