ABSTRACT
Background & objectives: Artemisinin was first extracted from the herb Artemisia annua which has been used for many centuries in Chinese traditional medicine as a treatment fever and malaria. It given 2011 Lasker-DeBakey clinical medical research award. In this paper, knowledge map of artemisinin drawn to provide some information global researchers interested its relevant references. Methods: work, bibliometric analysis visualization technology were applied evaluate scientific production developing trend through Science Citation Index (SCI) papers Medline with online version published following aspects: publication outputs, subject categories, journals, countries, international collaboration, citations, authorship co-authorship, author key words co-words analysis. The Thomson Data Analyzer (TDA), Netdraw Aureka software employed analyze SCI well data mapping. Results: Global literature increased rapidly over past 30 years boosted recent years. Seen statistical study aspects, Pharmacology Pharmacy, Chemistry are still main subjects parasitology tropical increasing quickly. Malaria Journal American Tropical Medicine top productive journals both databases. Quantity quality US leading position, although quantity active degree countries such P.R. China, Thailand India relatively high, these needs be improved. New emerging remind us that mechanism action, pharmacokinetics, artemisinin-based alternatives, etc. future trends research. Conclusion: Through development predicted. With further research, it is presumed scientists might concentrate mainly on synthesis new compounds activity, action mechanism, combination therapy regimens,
