ABSTRACT
Aim: Urethral meatotomy is an office procedure often done under local anesthesia with or without penile block short general anesthesia. Whatever may be the method, patient has to bear pain of injection. To avoid painful injections, in present study, topical form eutectic mixture prilocaine and lidocaine anesthetics (EMLA/Prilox) been used perform such procedures its effectiveness determined. Materials Methods: A total 48 consecutive patients meatal stenosis who attended urology outdoor were enrolled this study. After exclusion, 32 patients, 3-4 g Prilox cream was applied over glans occlusive covering maintained for 45 min before procedure. Meatotomy a standard manner hemostat application at stenosed segment 2-3 followed by ventral incision meatus. The patient's perception measured using visual analog score. Results: Out 32, only one that had inappropriate cream, during Rest all no discomfort Mean score 1.8 which not significant percepted level. No any major complication. Conclusion: Use (EMLA) safe effective method avoids injections anxiety related it should considered most as alternative conventional blocks
