ABSTRACT
Context: The level of awareness about osteoporosis in postmenopausal women who are the common sufferers. Aims: This study aims to evaluate using Osteoporosis Health Belief Scale (OHBS). Settings and Design: has emerged as a health problem geriatric population. A proactive role needs be played for preventing its consequences. Before initiating any preventive measures, an evaluation target population is necessary. questionnaire-based design was used this study. Subjects Methods: questionnaire (OHBS)-based 100 Chandigarh conducted. bone mineral density (BMD) measured each case by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry. Height, weight, body mass index (BMI) participants were noted. Statistical Analysis Used: analysis conducted correlation between various components OHBS BMD. Results: No statistically significant difference noted seven component parameters among normal, osteopenic, osteoporotic suggesting that belief regarding susceptibility not much different three groups mean BMI normal Conclusions: results show there great deficit Indian osteoporosis. Most unaware condition means prevent it. emphasizes care professionals have lot ground cover decrease incidence associated problem.
