ABSTRACT
Background: Marine organisms produce a variety of compounds with pharmacological activities including anticancer effects. This study attempt to find cytotoxicity hexane (HEX), dichloromethane (DCM), and butanol (BUTOH) partitions Sargassum angustifolium. Materials Methods: S. angustifolium was collected from Bushehr, Southwest coastline Persian Gulf. The plant extracted by maceration methanol-ethyl acetate. extract evaporated under vacuum partitioned Kupchan method yield HEX, DCM, BUTOH partitions. cytotoxic activity the (150, 450, 900 μg/ml) investigated against MCF-7 (breast cancer), HeLa (cervical human umbilical vein endothelial cells cell lines mitochondrial tetrazolium test assay after 72 h. Results: survivals were decreased increasing concentration extracts 150 μg/ml μg/ml. median growth inhibitory value HEX partition 71 77 MCF-7, 36 88 respectively. 25 MCF-7. Conclusion: reveals that different have cancer lines.
