ABSTRACT
Background: Multi-leaf collimator (MLC) is one of the efficient and cost-effective methods for protecting sensitive tissues around target. This study aimed to evaluate protective effect MLC on protection organs in patients with left breast cancer. Materials Methods: was performed computed tomography (CT) scans 45 Two treatment plans were completed each patient. Only heart lung considered at risk first plan, second anterior descending artery (LAD) also organ risk. It covered as much possible by MLC. Dosimetric results tumor (OARs) extracted from dose-volume histogram compared. Results: The showed that more LAD coverage leads a significant reduction mean dose OARs ( P -value <0.05). heart, LAD, decreased 11%, 7.4%, 4.9%, respectively. values V 5 (volume received Gy) 20 lung, 10 , 25 V30 30 significantly Conclusions: In general, better lungs can be achieved maximal shielding radiation therapy
