Characteristic Phenotypes of Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis Patients in a Single Tertiary Hospital in Saudi Arabia and the Effectiveness of the Treatment: A Retrospective Record Review

ABSTRACT
Abstract Objective: This study aims to determine the clinical characteristics, treatment methods, and outcomes of individuals diagnosed with systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (sJIA) at a single tertiary center in Saudi Arabia. Materials Methods: is retrospective conducted King Abdulaziz University Hospital Jeddah, The from patients sJIA between January 2012 December 2022 before age 14 years were collected diagnosis, 3 months, 12 months intervals. Results: Out 21 patients, 52% female, an average diagnosis 6 years. majority (73%) presented fever, arthritis, rash. Initial involved steroids (59%), methotrexate (24%), tocilizumab. Three posttreatment, 73% showed improvement, five had active disease. After 1 year, 5 out 15 persisted symptoms, necessitating additional treatments. follow-up duration was 50 achieving remission, but one patient died due allergic reaction Conclusions: highlights heterogeneity presentations. disparities reflect evolving guidelines medications availability. emphasizes importance national registry as well development local recommendations.
