ABSTRACT
Preparedness for the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and its spread in India calls setting up of adequately equipped dedicated health facilities to manage sick patients while protecting healthcare workers environment. In wake other emerging dangerous pathogens recent times, such as Ebola, Nipah Zika, it is important that are kept ready during inter-epidemic period training professionals managing cases multi-drug resistant difficult-to-treat pathogens. While endemic potential critically ill not yet known, system should have surge capacity critical care units preferably each tertiary government hospital at least one facility. This article describes elements design unit (e.g., space, infection control, waste disposal, safety workers, partners be involved plan) which can adapted context either a new construction or makeshift on top an existing structure. view epidemic COVID-19, specific requirements handle also given.
