ABSTRACT
Dengue virus infection is endemic in India with all the four serotypes of dengue circulation. This study was aimed to determine geographic distribution primary and secondary cases India.A multicentre cross-sectional conducted at Department Health Research / Indian Council Medical (DHR)/(ICMR) viral research diagnostic laboratories (VRDLs) selected ICMR institutes located India. Only laboratory-confirmed date onset illness less than or equal seven days were included between September October 2017. NS1 antigen ELISA anti-dengue IgM capture used diagnose while IgG for identifying cases.Of 1372 cases, 897 (65%) classified as 475 (35%) cases. However, proportion varied widely geographically, Theni, Tamil Nadu; Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh Udupi-Manipal, Karnataka reporting more 65 per cent Srinagar, Jammu Kashmir low 10 same. The median age 25 yr [interquartile range (IQR 17-35] that 23 13.5-34). Secondary around 50 among children belonging group 6-10 it ranged 20-43 other groups.Our findings showed a wide geographical variation It would prove beneficial include differentiation protocol national surveillance programme.
