ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to report the outcome cataract surgery with different surgical techniques in eyes coexisting coloboma and define factors prognostic importance.Retrospective case sheet review patients presenting between January 2016 December 2018, who underwent coloboma.Of 3,30,231 cases operated during period, 280 276 had associated colobomatous malformation. prevalence undergoing 0.085%. mean age 46.4 years (range 19 -88 years). Phacoemulsification (PE) performed 130 (46.4%), manual small incision (M-SICS) done 115 (41.1%), 35 (12.5%) intra capsular extraction. Intra-operative complications were noted 26 (9%) eyes. Incidence intra-operative post-operative comparable PE M-SICS groups (p = 0.94). corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA) improved from logMAR 1.71 ± 0.62 0.87 0.61 0.00009). On multivariate analysis, microcornea 0.002), type 1 2 < 0.001), intraoperative 0.001) poor outcome.Favorable functional outcomes can be achieved phacoemulsification softer corneal diameter >8 mm hard cataracts 6-8 mm. should considered as primary choice whenever permissible by severity nuclear sclerosis. Poor seen smaller diameter, extensive chorioretinal coloboma, complications.
