ABSTRACT
Purpose: To compare the visual outcomes and complication rates between extra-ocular needle-guided haptic insertion technique (XNIT) conventional handshake (HS) of scleral fixation intra-ocular lens (SFIOL). Methods: In this retrospective study, we retrieved data those patients who had undergone SFIOL surgery from January 2018 to May 2022 at our institute for aphakia following either a complicated cataract or an ocular trauma minimum follow-up 3 months. Results: Of 156 eyes, HS was done in 80 eyes remaining 76 with XNIT. At months visit, there no significant difference median best corrected acuity (BCVA) ( P = 0.988) uncorrected (UCVA) 0.765) two techniques. There statistically pre-operative BCVA post-operative UCVA XNIT 0.961) 0.831) visit. The techniques were minimal comparable. most common corneal edema. incidence cystoid macular edema slightly more group but not 0.05). Two developed retinal detachment, which settled after repeat surgery. Conclusion: newer found be as safe effective compared technique.
