A mixed method study to assess notification of tuberculosis patients by private practitioners in New Delhi, India.

ABSTRACT
A staggering one million tuberculosis (TB) cases are missing from notification, most of them being diagnosed and treated in the private sector. To curb this issue, Government India declared TB as a notifiable disease NIKSHAY was launched 2012. However, even after years implementation, per report published by 2020, proportion case notification total is very low.The objectives study were to assess current practices related Notification followed practitioners Delhi explore enablers barriers among private-sector treatment providers.This cross-sectional done January 2019 2020. Six hundred doctors line listed under chosen unit, 375 gave consent depth interview conducted them. Data collected on reporting status facilitators barrier toward assessed. For qualitative component, focused group discussions done.Out practitioners, over two-third (68%) reported that they not treating patients. Out 108 patients only 50% cases. Major reason cited for "don't know how to" major considered "lack training."Strategies such training retraining, one-to-one sensitization address may enhance notification.
