Management of primary open-angle glaucoma with Ayurvedic medicines: A case report

ABSTRACT
Glaucoma is a neurodegenerative disease in ophthalmology, which has characteristic optic neuropathy along with raised Intraocular Pressure (IOP). results the irreversible loss of vision and field defects due to death retinal ganglion cells. Despite considerable drug development activity glaucoma, there high failure rate researches that focused on developing neuroprotective treatment options. A 65-year-old male patient, known case open-angle glaucoma presented outpatient department complaints progressive painful both eyes mild headache redness reports perimetry showed visual defects. He was diagnosed primary gonioscopic confirmation history. It characterized by presence pain as distinctive symptom conjunction impairment or loss. Considering symptomatology after examination, Ayurveda planned. Triphala churna , Pravala panchamruta vati, Chandraprabha Amalaki churna, Saptamrita roupya Pathyadi kwatha morning evening Aragvadha fanta at night before sleep were started continued for five months. Goghrita prescribed another 6 The improvement fields from 6/24-6/18p left eye 6/60-6/36 right eye. This report will give direction serve purpose neuroprotection control IOP glaucoma.
